MANY VILLAGES
Volunteer tutors deliver over 1700 hours of one-on-one support to more than 200 children. Volunteers receive training, on-going feedback and heartfelt appreciation from teachers and students alike. It takes a village to help our students succeed!
Teaching & Learning
Ecag
Exceptional children's
advocacy group
ECAG works to build a greater understanding of the issues surrounding special education by empowering, supporting, and providing educational opportunities to parents/caregivers for the work of advocacy in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district.
Teaching & Learning
role models
Volunteer speakers address 5th grade classes and describe how their education, first jobs, careers, choices and challenges have been relevant to their lives. We hope that children will better understand the relevance of their education, the value of persistence and tenacity, and the possibility of overcoming obstacles will lead to a successful and satisfying life. The ultimate goal of the program is to broaden students' exposure to the options available to them and build students' confidence so they can affect the trajectory of their lives in a positive, productive, and personally satisfying direction.
Teaching & Learning
community care teams
Community Care Teams are a powerful core group of individuals and organizations that support each of our schools. Each team works at the discretion of district and building leadership working to achieve goals together.
Music & The Arts
music lessons
Reaching Heights offers budding musicians the opportunity to hone their musical skills with private music lesson scholarships. The Patti-Jackson Music Lesson Scholarship is named for two of our community's finest musicians and public school advocates, Vince Patti and Denise Jackson. Their legacy lives on through the beautiful music our students make every day.
Music & The Arts
music camp
Reaching Heights Summer Music Camp gives instrumental music students in grades 5 through 8 a chance to explore music in an intensive yet leisurely (and fun) environment. Scholarships are available for this week-long camp which concludes with an impressive community Finale Concert.
Music & The Arts
reaching musical heights
Every four years since 2003, Reaching Heights has coordinated this formal event in partnership with the school district. The concert, held on the stage of Severance Hall, features elementary vocal students, middle school vocal and instrumental students, and high school vocal and instrumental students. It is a community event not to be missed! Catch it in 2023! DVD's of the 2019 performance are still available. Contact the office to order.
Community Engagement
community
we're all in this together
We believe that the success of our schools is everybody's business and that successful schools are a critical part of successful communities. We provide resources and opportunities for everyone in Cleveland Heights and University Heights to get to know our schools and each other.
